As some may have seen I was lucky to feature in the CNC 'The Lockdown' project that features several Congolese creatives from across the UK and France, talking about how we've been keeping busy throughout the lockdown. Make sure that you check them out (link is at the bottom of this post) they share really dope content and keep you informed of the amazing things Congolese people are doing!
I was asked 3 questions about my writing following the release of my book 'The Dark Tales of Congo DR' so here are the questions and the full answers. Thanks to @congolese_network_creatives [instagram] for having me.
1. What does being a writer mean to you?
It’s an important form of expression to me. One thing I love about the art of writing is that once you put words on a paper they are no longer just thoughts, they become permanent. This is why I put everything into my writing because it’s my contribution to the world.
2. Where do you draw inspiration from?
I think when I’m writing it’s important to understand that my reality differs from that of other people around me. So what inspires me is mainly every day occurrences in life. I like to surround myself with people from different backgrounds, I like to have real life conversations and get peoples perspective on things, it broadens my view and so I become more open to discover more. It’s just the curiosity that comes from those interactions that makes me want to learn more.
3. How have you spent your time during lockdown?
During the lockdown, my main focus has been to create content and get my brand out there - just so I can keep myself busy , even if I don’t go with everything it’s good to get my ideas down so I’m not being idle.
